It rececives its name due the presence of large amounts of quartz formed in the Paleozoic era. From the same mine, many minerals of industrial importance have been extracted: quartz, feldspars, mica and beryl. Our guide will explain both the positive and negative impact of mining industry. We will have time to see in detail those geological formations and the minerals into them. The place is also the home of condors.
The day continues to Los Gigantes, a rocky massif that was formed in the era Precambrian 2. We will appreciatte the large stone formations, which abruptly emerge from the surface to form large walls of rock, which due to erosion, have formed various interesting shapes. The site with are known geoforms, locally recognized as El Pollito, El Hornito, El Gorila, El Indio, etc. and forming narrow galleries where species are developed that are adapted, not only to height, but also to sudden changes in temperature.

DAY 3. CÓRDOBA TO LA CUMBRE
After breakfast we leave Córdoba north direction Punilla valley till reach El Sauce Caverns in La Falda. This place is one of the most impressive geological sites in the country. The cave has aprox 1000 meters long and we will explore just a little by going inside it to have a very close view of all formations. The mysterious underground world is just there waiting to be discovered by you.
Night at Patios de la Cumbre.
DAY 4: LOS TERRONES AND ONGAMIRA VALLEY.
After breakfast we head to Los Terrones Park: Once there we will hike amid towering sandstone rock formations as we take in waterfalls and lush foliage and look out for condors flying overhead.
After a gourmet picnic lunch (included) we continue our excursion to Ongamira Valley. Healing energy points, sightings of strange lights linked to extraterrestrial activity and ancient tales of indigenous tribes make Ongamira one of Argentina’s most mysterious valleys. Though spiritual seekers from around the world flock to this enchanting spot in the north of Córdoba’s Sierras Chicas, 25km from Capilla del Monte, it remains steeped in secrecy. Lack of cell-phone coverage adds to the otherworldly mystique. Dotted with red sandstone formations and verdant green pastures where horses roam free, the valley – named after chief Onga – was once home to Comechingones, an indigenous tribe who lived here about 200 BC and used grottos carved out of sandstone as homes and ritual sites.
