DAY BY DAY

  • DAY 1. ARRIVE IN CORDOBA, THE HIDDEN GEM OF ARGENTINA.

Upon arrival at the Córdoba airport, you will be greeted by one of our guides and transferred to Hotel Azur Real. After check in we start a 2 1⁄2 hours walking tour. We will visit the Jesuit Block. It contains the core buildings of the capital of the former Jesuit Province of Paraguay: the church, the Jesuit priests’ residence, the university, and the Colegio Convictorio de Montserrat. Then we go to Paseo del Buen Pastor, a place with some interesting architectural nuances and interesting sculpture made by local artist.

Spend some of your time on the rooftop terrace & pool at the Hotel. The original house, where Azur is located, was built in 1915 as a traditional home-store, where the household members and the family business co-existed. The property evolved over the years, becoming a drugstore, a restaurant, and later a students residence. Part of the building was used by Dean Funes National School, where personalities from the City of Cordoba attended classes. Perhaps its most iconic student was Ernesto “Che” Guevara. So yes, your will stay at the same place where the legendary political figure spend some years during his childhood.

Evening at your leisure to explore the city and try the local cuisine, an interesting mixture of different backgrounds.

    Night at Hotel Azur Real.

  • DAY 2 WINE ROUTE – NORTH.

After breakfast we will leave the city in north direction along national route 9. You will go to a region full of history, culture and local traditions. Features of the mixture of local habitants, Italian inmigrants and Spanish colonialism will be seen on every corner.

The first visit is Jesuit Estancia of Jesus Maria. In 1618, the Jesuits acquired the twenty thousand grape varieties, the mill, 250 cows, 25 oxen and 30 pigs of the land then known as Chacra de Guanusacate -a name given by the Sanaviron natives- for eight thousand Pesos. After years of works the Jesuits could make the first American wine served in Europe! It was called “Lagrimilla de Oro”

After a interesting dosis of history, it ́s time to explore another side of the region: winemaking. We will visiti 3 different cellars in the area: a small land where the family run wine business so every little detail has a personal touch; a traditional wineyard with long tradition in the industry; and Terra Camiare: a gourmet wineyard where you will discover its wine and taste local salame and cheeses.

    Night at Azur Real Hotel

  • DAY 3. CORDOBA– SAN JAVIER

After breakfast we leave the city southwest direction. After 1 hour driving we will be in the middle of a stunning mountain environment: Pampa de Achala and Altas Cumbres Road. The route descends to Traslasierra Valley, showing us several panoramic views and gorgeus landcapes. Arrival to San Javier is to reach to a very special place, a slow-life town, at the bottom of Champaqui Mt, where everybody are connected with nature and wellness. Comarca La Matilde and its posada is one of the reference of the region, because of its philosophy based on biodimanics, sustainability and ecological practices.

    Night at Posada La Matilde

  • DAY 4. SAN JAVIER

Enjoy your stay in La Matilde, walking across the wineyards, the farm, the garden and corrals. Discover the wines we produce in La Matilde:

The area was chosen because it benefits from the altitude above sea level, the day/night temperature breadth, the annual rainfall and 300 days of sunlight. The characteristics of the terroir, together with the experience of our oenologist, allow La Matilde to develop distinguished organic and biodynamic varietals of Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon and Tannat. Our commitment to the environment and the organic and biodynamic wine growing represents the values in the philosophy of winemaking and life itself, which leads to healthier practices. We bring ancestral techniques back to life because they respected the close connection between the soil, the biological cycles, and the vines with their taste. As a result for our good practices we obtain cleaner soil, a high quality, healthier grape and thus, a better wine, by respecting nature. A distinctive feature, a unique personality, a “mindful”wine, have defined the wild elegance that embodies our wines. In the sourronings you will be able to visit other local producer such us wines, beekeeping, fruits and artisans.
